From the St. Louis Review:
2 men to be ordained for Latin Mass order
Archbishop Raymond L. Burke will ordain two men to the priesthood for the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest at 1 p.m. Friday, June 15, at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis, Lindell Boulevard and Newstead Avenue in the Central West End.
The men to be ordained are Abbe William Avis and Abbe Matthew Talarico.
This is the first ordination in the United States for members of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, a society of priests founded in Italy in 1990.
The ordination Mass will be a Pontifical Solemn Mass celebrated in the classical Latin rite, or Tridentine rite Roman Mass, the traditional Latin Mass of the Roman Catholic Church. The Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, which is known for celebration of the Tridentine Mass, administers St. Francis de Sales Oratory in South St. Louis, now home to the traditional Latin Mass community.
The two men to be ordained, Abbe Avis and Abbe Talarico, have completed their studies at St. Philip Neri Seminary in Gricigliano, Italy, the seminary of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest. Both served in diaconate assignments at St. Francis de Sales Oratory.
Abbe Avis, 28, is the son of Walter Avis and Roberta Cunningham. His home parish is St. Gabriel in Prairie du Chien, Wis. He attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. He will celebrate his first Mass at 10 a.m. Sunday, June 17, at St. Francis de Sales Oratory.
Msgr. Gilles Wach, prior general of the institute, and Father Philippe Mora, the two French priests who founded the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, will be in attendance at the ordination Mass, as will Father Karl Lenhardt, rector of St. Francis De Sales Oratory.
Many of the clergy and seminarians in the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest from around the world will attend. There are more than 50 priests and 70 men in formation in more than 40 countries. Members of the institute will sing Gregorian chant during the Mass.
A triduum of Masses will be celebrated at St. Francis de Sales Oratory, 2653 Ohio Ave., in preparation for the June 15 ordination Mass at the Cathedral Basilica.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, June 12 and 13, Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis de Sales at 7 p.m., followed by Benediction. Perpetual Help devotions will precede Mass at 6:30 p.m. June 12. Msgr. Wach, the prior general, will celebrate Solemn High Mass at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at St. Francis de Sales.
