A savvy reader of this blog has made the following observations about Fr. Bozek’s public statements in light of the facts of the case as they have come to light. From this person’s email:
This morning His Grace said,
“Recent events, however, most of all, his active participation in the attempted ordination of two women to the Roman Catholic priesthood require me to insist that Father Bozek either reconcile himself with the Church or accept the grave canonical consequences of his actions. …… I also note with sadness that Father Bozek has made other public declarations contrary to the teaching and discipline of the Catholic Church, for instance, the teaching on the indissolubility of marriage. “(my emphasis)
IS MAREK BOZEK GRANTING ANNULMENTS? IS HE MARRYING THE DIVORCED? JUST HOW CRAZY IS THIS GUY? (Or is that bit about “public declarations contrary to … the indissolubility of marriage” really just a euphemism for declarations about gay marriage?)
Excellent questions. Has Fr. Bozek made public declarations that divorce and remarriage is possible for Catholics, or has he gone further and taken practical steps in line with this idea? Or is it merely part of code-speak for extra-natural-law-permissible relationships generally?
Perhaps Fr. Bozek or the Board will include these points in their inevitable next press conference yet to come. Or someone else will get to the bottom of it all. My thanks to the reader, and keep the questions coming.
