A friendly reminder about two very worthwhile Catholic events this weekend:
1) There will be a Solemn Requiem Mass tonight at St. Francis de Sales Oratory at 6:30 pm– the choir, under the leadership of Mr. Nick Botkins, will be singing the beautiful Requiem Mass of Gabriel Faure. This Mass is for the repose of Alice Bub, but the family wish it to be known that the public is invited to attend. Directions at the link.
2) TFP is presenting a talk by Mr. John Horvat about Our Lady of Covadonga and Don Pelayo the Warrior at the St. Agnes Home in Kirkwood, Sunday at 1:30 pm. This talk is especially relevant in light of world events and the prospects for the Church following the Tuesday debacle. Directions at the link.
Finally, a holy priest sent me the following email that includes a very good proposal for all of us:
I had an inspiration yesterday while pondering all the bad things that would happen in the following years. The thought came to mind to pray for the Obama’s conversion. Certainly humanly speaking it sounds crazy, but then again God is not bound by what is human. I have decided that I would pray everyday a rosary for his conversion. Perhaps you could spread the idea in your very subtle way, besides what do we have to lose?
Yes, Father, very subtle. Why don’t we do this? After all, there isn’t an electoral solution for at least two years, and this can’t hurt. Mary converted St. Alphonse Ratisbonne, who was an open mocker of the Church.
Our Lady of Covadonga, pray for us!
