Story at the New York Times.
This, by the way, will be the agency that will have a key role in the Great Comrade’s socialized health plan.
Wow, “Catholics” really are well represented in the Congress and Administration.
What’s next, Sr. Joan Chittister for Ambassador to the Holy See?
Oh that’s really cute, Tim. So in addition to everything else wrong with him, Obama is now a communist because he wants affordable health care for all Americans. You are a true cafeteria Catholic.
God bless you!
With that gesture, he looks more like one of those “National Socialists” to me 🙂 You forgot about cabinet positions for your other favorite dissidents. Perhaps our other ultra Catholic leaders, such as Pelosi, the Kennedys and Kerry could have a special spot in the Barack Hussein administration.
So this is what the latin mass community in St. Louis is all about– calling our president-elect a communist, mocking universal health care and yucking about how Tom Daschle looks like a Nazi. Tim, I seem to recall you saying this site was dedicated to the Blessed Mother. I’m sure she would approve of your childish antics. What small-minded hypocrites you are.
TGL,Communism is based on socialism! Redistribution of wealth, government controlled costs are all the foundations of communist governments. If the citizen owned health care industry were forcibly taken over by the government, we will have poor healthcare as a result! We have many models of socialized medicine to look at, and they are all inferior to ours. They stink! The American people will not have FREE or affordable health care. they will be paying for it with their greatly increased taxes! They will simply have less healthcare, that is far inferior to the top quality we currently have.Only the RICH will have superior health care, because they will be able to pay for it out of their pockets as the Canadians and Europeans do now, especially when they come to the USA to have things done right. The middle class and poor will be stuck with inferior care, and sometimes no care, as the government will have to cut benefits such as kidney transplants to people over a certain age, heart surgery, and many other benefits we currently take for granted. There is only so much money to go around, as the countries with socialized medicine have discovered. People are refused surgery, because it is too expensive, or they are too old, or they must wait in line for it, and then they die waiting. The worst is when they decide it is too expensive to keep someone alive in the hospital and the doctors euthanize people. It happens already in those countries where the governments “take care” of all the health care needs?!
TGL, I am glad you enjoy my blog so much that despite an apparent distaste for the material posted you continually try to improve my spiritual disposition. Thank you!
TGL,The Democrats in office through their votes and pandering to Planned Parenthood and the like have contributed to the slaughter of the unborn at levels that make the Nazis look like mere high school bullies in comparison. The Latin Mass community here in STL and elsewhere call the hypocrisy of the so called Catholic politicians exactly as they see it. Communism is a threat to our religion as is democratic socialism. Marx advocated for the abolition of God and religion, so how can we do anything but denounce and fear a politician with these types of ideals? We will all give an account for what we have done, and these so called Catholic politicians are no exception. May God have Mercy on our Country and on us all.
JP Can you give me some examples of “good” Catholic politicians?
TGL,That is a trick question 🙂 If the Social Reign of Christ the King were as it should be, any politician identifying themselves as Catholic would be a Good Catholic Politician, for they would put Our Lord and our Holy Faith at the forefront of all they do. I suspect that there are few, if any politicians that truly do this, especially if you are to balance issues of life with other important social issues. The question would still remain as to what degree our government is responsible for taking care of all those in need. In a true social reign situation, all citizens would ensure that those in need are cared for and the Church too would pick up the slack or help in caring for all those unmet needs. In answer to your question, I cannot think of many “good” Catholic politicians, but I honestly am not that politically savvy. Most Catholic politicians are “bad” by definition, as they do not support the defense of innocent human life (e.g. against abortion and embryonic stem cell research) or of the elderly (e.g. against euthanasia). Of those politicians I am aware of, Kansas Senator Sam Brownback would be the best Catholic politician I can think of. I also like Alan Keyes and Pat Buchanan in terms of their alignment with Catholic principles, although the caveat is that being a hardline conservative is not consistent with all the Catholic principles and by definition would probably not make them ideal politicians or candidates. The only way to get the perfect candidate in my mind is for me to run for office myself. That said, I am not fully aware of Sen. Brownback’s entire record and cannot speak to all his positions. If I were to be in office, I would guarantee that I held no positions inconsistent with God’s law as outlined by Holy Mother Church. Perhaps others could identify some “good” Catholic politicians. All Catholic politicians should take their job seriously and should hold issues of life and those in support fo the sanctity of marriage as the highest priority, above all other issues.
In our system of representative, democratic (small d) government, are those citizens who support a women’s right to choose consistent with Roe v. Wade entitled to have someone representing their views in Congress? This is not a trick question– it’s a question that might be asked in a political science class at a good Catholic college. If you were the professor, how would you answer?
TGL,I would answer that one can never choose to do evil, period. That is to say that one has the free will to choose evil, but government must not legalize evils such as abortion. A woman has no right to choose to commit such an evil under protection of the law. It may be legal right now, but it cries out to Heaven for Vengeance and there can truly be no “right” to do such an evil. I am not in favor of our representative government per se, I would prefer a benevolent Catholic King. That said, reality ensures that I ought rather vote for the best Catholic candidate and pray for the best.
A benevolent Catholic King. Wow!The closest you’re going to find to that form of government are the Muslim theocracies like Iran and Saudi Arabia. Give me democracy any day. At least I have a say in things.
TGL,Give me St. Louis IX, King of France anyday. Forget about the muslim theocracies. -JP
When you talk about Louis IX, you’re talking about state-run religion. I don’t care what religious preference you have, state-run religion is a bad thing.
