A group calling itself Concerned Parishioners of St. Stanislaus Kostka Roman Catholic Parish emailed me the following response, which I include here for the record:
The Concerned Parishioners of St. Stanislaus Kostka Roman Catholic Parish wish to report the newest and publicly comment …
The St. Louis Post Dispatch story makes the appearance that the parish is in trouble with this loss to Marek Bozek. We would like to say that we are at a loss since Marek Bozek has decided to go his own way and decided to violate the commitment that he made to the original parishioners when he arrived at St. Stanislaus Kostka. The Archdiocese of St. Louis was wishing to right the wrong that commenced back in 2003. They were willing for us to go back to operating the way we were prior to ‘The Burke Debacle’ [SLC comment: NOT the term I would use]. Yet, Marek Bozek had decided that he was going a different path than the Vatican’s Roman Catholicism and voted to disband the board of directors; ridding himself of the board members that resisted his agenda. Marek Bozek has recently flown a balloon that stated he may be leaving the parish to go elsewhere. We believe that this was simply intended as a ploy to get more attention for himself and a possible increase in his finances with his contract renegotiation in November. We, the Concerned Parishioners of St. Stanislaus Kostka, would love to see Marek Bozek leave the parish and allow us to return to the status quo we once had as a Polish Roman Catholic parish.
It is truly disheartening, the infighting created by what we see as an arrogant, egotistical, self centered, and controlling individual that does not believe in serving for others but rather serving himself. Questions also abound concerning the finances of the parish and why no independent, third party audit has ever been conducted? Why has there not been a publicly circulated, financial accounting detail since this mess started? Where are the finances coming from that Marek Bozek is paying his attorney’s fees? Those should not be coming from parish funds, we say that they should be coming from his own, personal funds. As well should any legal fees that the current board of directors is spending for their defenses. The 3 board members that are involved with Marek Bozek in a lawsuit against the Archdiocese should also be spending their own personal funds for their legal fees. They are not defending the St. Stanislaus Kostka that was involved at the beginning of this process in 2003, rather they are defending the Marek Bozek 2008 version. Questions are still not answered with regard to who bought the loft on ——- Street in which Marek Bozek resides, since he decided not to live on parish grounds. ….
The surviving members of the 2003 parishioner base are the only legal membership to the Missouri corporation of the St. Stanislaus Kostka Roman Catholic corporation. The new ‘membership’ that Marek Bozek has so arrogantly brought forward as his flock to secure the future of the parish are ruining our rich history and making a public mockery of our parish and our church. The Concerned Parishioners of St. Stanislaus Kostka Polish Roman Catholic Church started this battle in 2003 to stay Roman Catholic and not become another spot in the world’s dark history books.
More to come …
