Yesterday’s Mass and celebration at the Oratory was a great success. Thank you, Archbishop Carlson, for your visit. Above is a picture from the reception after Mass, with the Archbishop greeting some of the many children in attendance.
In addition to the Archbishop, the Archdiocese was well-represented by the Chancellor, seminarians, and representatives from the Office of Communications. Monsignor Schmitz, Canon Avis and Mother Caroline-Marie joined the Institute’s regular presence at the Oratory, which is unique among the Institute’s apostolates in having representatives of all of the various charisms of the Institute in one place– priests, oblates, those in priestly formation, sisters and lay members. And the church was filled with Catholic faithful grateful for the Archbishop’s visit and the 25 year presence of the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite.
Here is to the next 25 x 25 years. And more.
that's it?! one photo!we want more I say!
I took lots of photos there. This one was the best, the others don't looks so good.
Mark, Sorry, I didn't know that was your picture, or I wouldn't have posted it without clearing it with you. Father G, I am the worst blogger in history because I forgot to bring my camera.Mea Culpa to you both!
Tinman & all St Louis Catholics, I am trying to form a (most likely) small pilgrimage from St. Louis to Washington, DC for the Cardinal Hoyos Traditional Latin Mass on April 24, 2010, at 1 p.m.–the fifth anniversary of inauguration of Pope Benedict XVI–at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception–the First Traditional Mass at the National Shrine’s High Altar in 45 Years–organized by The Paulus Institute. See: http://www.thepaulusinstitute.org/press-release.htmI think it would be a shame if there was not representation from the Rome of the West. Also, it is necessary that we continue to pray for the expansion of the Extraordinary Form and a Reform of the Reform of the Ordinary for the greater glory of God, the common good of the universal Church, and the salvation of souls. It would surely be a missed opportunity for the graces received from such an occasion. The theme will be "The Mass of All Time is the Mass for All Ages" as His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI has said, “What earlier generations held as sacred remains sacred for us too.” The pilgrimage will be sponsored by MONKROCK, Transitus Oblates of the Last Martyrdom, and hopefully St. Francis de Sales Oratory and other churches where the Tridentine Mass is offered, the Archdiocese of Saint Louis, and of course St Louis Catholic blog. The pilgrimage will consist of a long drive [or possibly a bus ride] hopefully involving devotional stops along the way. We will pray the traditional Divine Office, the readings and prayers from the 1962 Missal, and other supplemental texts following the Liturgical Year as well as the Rosary and other appropriate popular devotions, all for the intentions mentioned above in union with the Holy Father and our Archbishop Robert Carlson. I have received the blessing of Canon Wiener (Rector of St. Francis de Sales Oratory and Episcopal Delegate for the implementation of Summorum Pontificum in the Archdiocese of St. Louis) but not a formal endorsement until higher authorities extend their approval. I am looking for those who will help organize the pilgrimage, acquire sponsorships, raise awareness, raise money, and for those who are able, to go with me. There is not a lot of time. We must act now. If you or anyone wants to help, please contact me: Kevin Francis Bernadette Clay, owner of MONKROCK and Superior General of Transitus.
